Using ChatGPT as a Marketing Assistant

By now, nearly all marketers know that ChatGPT streamlines the process of content creation. The content will still require editing, fact-checking, customizing etc., but it does create a great starting point.  

What many marketers still don’t know is that ChatGPT also functions as a decent marketing assistant by generating creative ideas, handling schedules, analyzing spreadsheets, reviewing competitors’ websites, etc. Most of this does require a paid subscription, but at $20/month, it’s well worth it. Here are six areas to explore:

 

1.  Social Media Management:

·         Hashtag Suggestions: Recommend relevant hashtags to increase reach and engagement.

·         Trend Analysis: Identify and suggest current trends to tap into for timely content.

2.  Email Marketing:

·         Subject Line Suggestions: Create eye-catching subject lines to improve open rates.

·         Segmentation Strategies: Provide ideas for segmenting your email list to target specific customer groups.

3.  Market Research and Analysis:

·         Competitive Analysis: Summarize competitor activities and marketing strategies.

·         Customer Insights: Analyze customer feedback and social media interactions to identify trends and preferences.

·         Industry Trends: Provide updates on industry trends and market developments.

4.  Target Market Identification and Management

·         Explore New Markets: get creative suggestions for reaching segments that may have been overlooked.

·         Customer Personas: Create personas based on criteria you input

5.  Ad Campaign Assistance:

·         Ad Copywriting: Create persuasive ad copy for Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and other platforms.

·         A/B Testing Ideas: Suggest different versions of ad copy or visuals for A/B testing.

·         Performance Analysis: Help analyze the performance of ad campaigns and suggest improvements.

6. Brand Voice and Messaging:

·         Tone and Style: Ensure consistency in brand voice across all marketing materials.

·         Message Crafting: Develop key messages and value propositions for various campaigns.

 

            As with content creation (and a human marketing assistant for that matter) ChatGPT requires oversight. Marketers do need to carefully review the output and, if necessary, refine and resubmit the prompt. If your company has a ChatGPT policy that prevents you from fully utilizing Chat GPT in this way, ask management to reconsider. As long as your account is correctly configured, there just aren’t the same concerns there were last year.
